Fortune cat also known as Maneki Neko is traditionally believed to beckon in money. The cat is seen with an upright left paw that attracts money, while a raised right paw protects it. Fortune cat is usually depicted holding a coin, or Koban, which is worth ten million in Japan during the Edo period.
